Preamble to the international anti-speciesist petition

Welcome to the website of the International Anti-speciesist Petition. This site carries one of the core political projects of the Ligue Internationale Antispéciste (ASBL).

Anti-speciesism is political.

Calling for the abolition of animal exploitation in all its forms, or for non-human legal personhood to be granted to sentient non-human animals¹, are political demands.

These demands must therefore be carried forward by democratically elected political parties and put to a vote before regional, national and international legislative assemblies, themselves democratically elected.

Abolishing animal exploitation, and granting non-human animals a form of non-human legal personhood endowed with inalienable essential rights, thus require electoral successes underpinned by favourable public opinion willing to support these demands and this major cultural revolution that is anti-speciesism.
